Geneva is famous for its strong winds, and this element must always be taken into account when working with any installations in public spaces. The rue des Eaux-Vives is particularly gusty, which is why I suggested this project of gently swaying fish, consisting of fifty giant, metallic fish of various sizes, patterned with different motifs.
I called them “Gently Glimmering Fish”, because the rue des Eaux-Vives is a residential street. To avoid disturbing the inhabitants with blinding lights in their windows, the light source was hidden inside the body of the fish, which was perforated with patterns that let the light pass through like luminous “scales”. Some “species” shine more brightly than others..
